Headteacher's Welcome
Welcome to Penkridge Middle School!
It is my absolute pleasure, as Headteacher, to welcome you to Penkridge Middle School.
We are incredibly proud to be a popular and oversubscribed school, something we believe reflects the confidence that families place in Penkridge Middle School and the positive reputation our school has within the local community. At the heart of that reputation is a simple commitment: we want every child to be happy, successful and proud to belong to our school.
We combine high expectations with high levels of care, encouragement and support, ensuring that every pupil has the opportunity to thrive. Central to this is The PMS Way, which defines who we are as a school, the standards we expect and the values we want our pupils to demonstrate every day.
The Way We Behave (Ready. Respectful. Safe.)
We expect our pupils to make positive choices, show respect for themselves and others, and contribute to a school where everyone feels happy, healthy and safe.
The Way We Learn (Effort. Encouragement. Excellence.)
We believe that success begins with effort. We encourage our pupils to challenge themselves, support one another and take pride in achieving their very best. Excellence will look different for every child, and our role is to help each pupil discover what they are capable of achieving.
The Way We Are (Warm. Welcoming. Friendly.)
Relationships matter. We want Penkridge Middle School to be a place where pupils, families, staff and visitors feel welcome, valued and part of our community.
As a middle school, we have the wonderful opportunity to work with children at a particularly important stage of their education and development. Our broad and balanced curriculum is delivered by passionate teachers, with pupils benefiting from specialist teaching, facilities and opportunities across a wide range of subjects.
We want learning to extend well beyond the classroom. Through sport, music, art, performance, trips, clubs, leadership opportunities and the many other experiences on offer, we encourage our pupils to discover new interests, develop their talents and build the confidence and resilience they will need for the future.
Academic achievement is important to us, but education is about much more than results alone. We want our pupils to leave Penkridge Middle School as confident, considerate and aspirational young people who are well-prepared for the next stage of their education and the wider world.
Central to achieving this is the partnership between school and home. We value the support of our parents and carers enormously and believe that children achieve their best when pupils, families and school work together. We therefore encourage positive, open communication and want parents and carers to feel very much part of school life.
As Headteacher, I am enormously proud of our pupils, our staff and our wider school community. If you visit us, I hope you will quickly see and feel what makes our school special: high expectations, positive relationships, a commitment to learning and, above all, The PMS Way in action.
Whether you are an existing member of our school community, considering Penkridge Middle School for your child, or simply finding out more about us, I hope our website gives you a real sense of who we are. Of course, the best way to understand our school is to come and see it for yourself, and we are always delighted to welcome prospective pupils, parents and carers.
Welcome to Penkridge Middle School. Welcome to The PMS Way.
Kind regards
Mr A Grocutt
Headteacher
