Teaching and whole school strategies

  • Supporting great teaching
    Extra maths teacher employed to allow an increase in maths
    timetabled hours in KS3. Visible Learning World Conference training (2021) to be rolled out to staff. Release time for subject leaders to attend network updates.



  • Pupil assessment and feedback
    Use of GL assessments, Accelerated Reader and ‘Learning by Questions’ to identify gaps in learning.



  • Transition support
    Release time for SLT to increase the level of transition including ‘virtual’ transition in the Spring term.

  • One to one and small group tuition:
    Specialist Dyslexia teacher working with small groups and one to one.



  • Intervention programmes:
    Am Class-time Choral Reading intervention for students that need it in all year groups. Nessy Literacy intervention for 30 students Other morning interventions by Learning support staff.

    Catch Up interventions run by staff after school.
